The world spot light is on oz now and they are shaking their heads at the backwardness of policy, lack of preparedness and most of all denialist/coal hugging antics of the so called leaders. This is just the beginning with regards to the bile. If HC is a barometer of the community and the unhinged vitriol that comes from both sides you can bet there are many in the community further on the fringe. Funny how quickly the mud slingers turn to snowflakes when the tide turns. The current govt are still ignoring the science and visible reality of climate change, like many on here they prefer the status quo and head in the sand approach, which is fine until it is not. Fed govt agencies have been predicting this scenario for years and this govt will wear the backlash of inaction. vic govt following black Saturday have implemented a number of strategic initiatives eg powerline safety upgrades and LGA emergency centres. The feds dont even seem to have a critical emergency response strategy and have just cobbled together a structure in the last couple of days. The comparisons with NZ PM are stark.
