GET UP should be banned.

GetUp accused of ‘murky conflict of interest’ in Phelps campaign

GetUp has been accused of endorsing a “murky” conflict of interest over the involvement of a board member in paid work for independent candidate Kerryn Phelps in the Wentworth by-election at the same time as campaigning in the Sydney seat by backing her.
Dr Phelps has recruited the Sydney-based campaigning company Principle Co, owned by GetUp board member Daniel Stone and business partner Sofia Madden, for key digital roles including website construction and a launch video. Mr Stone was appointed to GetUp’s board 12 months ago and is an active ALP member. The main clients of his company with Ms Madden are the federal ALP, NSW ALP, individual ALP candidates, unions and GetUp.
GetUp campaign director Miriam Lyons said the group was campaigning independently in Malcolm Turnbull’s former seat of Wentworth “for climate change, not candidates”.
