    How do you suppose he's a leftie (or indeed any government today)
    A leftie is meant to be interested in the interests of the people. Not seeing it when so much pork given to big corporations.

    You can consider the left/ right distinction two ways.

    Traditionally; a left wing politician seeks to destroy the status quo. The status quo in the US/ west is "corporate interests". They're all doing very well to uphold them.

    More recently, "left wing" is defined as "the will of the common people" in the parlance.

    I don't see very much of that in any mainstream politicking. I mean sure they TELL you what people care about but very curiously none of it seems to be what anyone I know actually cares about.
