    Pulp mill legal action looms
    Posted August 23, 2011 07:15:13 ABC

A Tasmanian conservation lawyer says she has been approached by individuals and groups prepared to take legal action against Gunns' proposed pulp mill.

Permits for the project will lapse at the end of the month unless the timber company can show work has substantially commenced.

Conservation lawyer Vanessa Bleyer believes there is a case for the courts to decide if the condition has been met.

"If the Premier of this state fails to concede that substantial commencement has not been met, if Gunns fails to concede that substantial commencement has not been met, then the Supreme Court will be asked to answer that question, to have a look at the facts, to have a look what actually has been done," she said.

Gunns says it has already built some roads, and earthworks should start within two weeks.
