Wonder if anyone can share some thought about the possibility of Corporate Travel Management launching legal actions against VGI Partners IF CTD has done nothing wrong. I mean if CTD is clean, there has to be something done about this mess. CTD management cannot just let VGI say "I am sorry, we misunderstand your business" and then just walk away after causing massive loss and chaos to CTD's shareholders.
And if they do launch legal actions, what can they seek from VGI Partners? Could it be in tens of millions of dollars or even hundreds of millions of dollars for damages to CTD's shareholder value and damages to its business reputation?
Can shareholders of CTD also take a separate legal class action against VGI Partners?
Also, what are the roles of ASIC in regards to market manipulation in this particular case if VGI Partners is to be proven wrong in their allegations against CTD? If this is the case, I believe we will see some major ramifications beyond VGI but more into the wider hedge funds, institutional funds, and rampant shorting activities and fake news and manipulations....in the wake of the Royal Commission.
Can anyone with some legal background share some thoughts please? Much appreciated.
