Apart from football finals, what more momentous event is there in September?
12 months ago today, Lehman Brothers collapsed, although its many global tentacles were amputated and grafted onto Barclays and other banks.
Debate is now raging as to whether it should have been saved.
Just a quick chart revisiting the $US index.... it staged what appears to be an abortive recovery yesterday, spiking up but losing just about all its gain.
It shows signs of bottoming nonetheless, but there's still room for further falls.
