I'll hang my hat on the gut feel the DPP got from witnessing the body language and expressions of the juror's during the trial, both of which are highly relevant to identifying thoughts and reactions. Who's to say he wasn't in contact with a friend of a friend of a friend who was privvy to a juror?
ACT isn't a very big place Moonie, and it took a while to gather enough juror's who were deemed unbias.

But I do understand that when someone supports the alleged rapist then wanting to consider any of the above would be a bridge too far.
