@Scott th Ratbag - I have only now seen your response to my post. Yes, St Augustine is a favourite of his, will read up on the 'Saint' seems he went through a conversion process, too. As for our 'tutor' I find him shallow, naive, but kind - essentially a harmless, well-meaning man, who was an accountant before retirement - nothing to learn there for me. I just go for the company and the dinner-party style discussions we all have on wide-ranging subjects.
And, yes he touches on Aristotle frequently, but in a confusing manner. I think he reads up before 'lessons' and has never done the 'in-depth' study. What I know about Aristotle is that he is at the basis of all Western philosophical thinking as well as the sciences. He was what we would now call a 'Renaissance Man'
