References to Sodonchroff as a judge implies he was sitting on a criminal trial and breached basic tenents of law by communicating with a journalist during the case.
He was the Chair of an Inquiry conducting a review into an aborted trial at the behest of the ACT govt.
Throughout the inquiry he championed openess and transparency and briefed other media like the ABC which appeared to run dead on the info. Or at least displayed a lack of curiosity compared to Albrechsten, a lawyer.
Sodonchroff has since explained the reason she received so much backgrounding, which is acceptable during an inquiry but not a trial, was because she asked so many more questions than others he briefed.
Nah, this finding is a face-saving exercise on behalf of the ACT govt and their hopeless former chief prosecutor. As Albrechsten writes tonight:
"Shane Drumgold’s biggest problem was never Walter Sofronoff, nor even the report written by Sofronoff into events surrounding the prosecution of Bruce Lehrmann."
"Shane Drumgold has won a Pyrrhic victory because he has failed to restore his reputation...which remains in tatters."
