Lehrmann inquiry head made 55 calls to The Australian during probe, court hears
A lawyer for former top ACT prosecutor Shane Drumgold says the head of a high-profile inquiry into the handling of Bruce Lehrmann’s rape trial spent more than seven hours on the phone to The Australian newspaper over 55 phone calls during the probe.
Dan O’Gorman SC told the ACT Supreme Court on Wednesday morning that subpoenaed phone records demonstrated former Queensland Supreme Court Walter Sofronoff had an apprehended bias against Drumgold due to the level of contact he had with The Australian’s Janet Albrechtsen in particular.
