History is a wonderfull teacher. As we all know the original Township was built on top the the main coalfield now the basis for the NRZ operation and was moved to become Leigh Creek South in the aerly 1980's.. What I did not know until today was that the first Airport servicing it is now well and truly burried under the Main Series overburden dumps. This was taken from Leigh Creek - Old Town Project (squarespace.com), a 1979 aerial photo. Wondering here of course is where will the UREA plant be sited, surely not on top of the deep coal a mistake already once taken?.
