As appealing as it would be to move a new family into a refurbed fibro dwelling, I think the removal of unused, delapidated infrastructure is a sound investment for a renewed Leigh Creek.

I can understand the locals feeling sentimental about the removal. Kind of like when my Dad suddenly decided to dismantle my James Hardie cubby-house - it was a sad day, but probably for the best.
