My Mum had a saying,
"Never borrow, never lend,
If you wish to keep a friend"
I lent money to someone close to me once.... caused a bit of angst later on.
I also gave some money to someone once..... it created a few uncomfortable vibes.
My feeling now is that it is better to give to someone in need without expecting it back and if the person is close, better to give anonymously.
