Lenze only launched the first version of the BLE 4.0 mid 2015 and would create the ST17xxx series in 2016.

I left this supporting article off because many wouldn't understand it from a tech perspective, I will let you determine the age of the tech.

Data Transfers - Bluetooth low-power technology supports very short data packets (8 octet to 27 octet), the transmission speed of up to 1Mbps. All connections use advanced sniff-subrating functional modes to achieve ultra-low duty cycles.
Frequency Hopping - Bluetooth low power technology and other versions of Bluetooth technology are used to adjust the frequency hopping, in order to minimize the 2.4 GHz ISM band other technology interference. This technology also allows efficient multipathing advantages to increase the link budget, thereby increasing the range.
Host Control - Bluetooth low-power technology designed high-intelligent controller, so that the host for a long time in a dormant state, and only need to operate when the host by the controller to start. Because the host consumes more energy than the controller, this design also saves the most energy.
Latency - Online setup of Bluetooth low-power technology takes only 3 milliseconds (ms); it can quickly start the linker with an application and completes the approved data transfer at several milliseconds. Close the connection immediately - Bluetooth module.
Range - The increase in the modulation index can increase the range of low-power wireless technology, the range will be more than 100 meters.
Robustness - Bluetooth low-power technology uses a 24-bit cyclic repeat check ring (CRC) to ensure the maximum stability of all packets in the event of interference.
High Security - AES-128 full encryption using CCM provides a high degree of encryption and authentication for data packets.
Topology - Bluetooth low-power technology uses a 32-bit access address on each slave device and each packet, allowing billions of devices to be linked at the same time. This technology not only one-to-one link optimization, but also the use of star topology to complete the one-to-many links. In the case of rapid online and disconnected switching, the data can move between the mesh topologies, but it is too complicated to maintain the network.
