Yes, I must admit there are some pretty unedifying examples of journalism out there. I didn't see this alleged Swiss media beat-up first hand, but I know the sorts of Australian interviews you are referring to - the likes of A Current Affair are notorious for it.
On the positive side though it was a journalist who produced that 7.30 Report story a week or two ago, as well as that radio interview with Gerry GW. Hopefully when we're serving Australia's coldest beer chilled by Australia's hottest rocks later this year a journalist will be there to cover the event and explain the project to the man in the street.
I can assure you that you are right when you say all journalists are not the same - I have known many over the years who have been precise and honest with their words.
It gives me hope that maybe not all bricklayers are angry :)
