you point to NAL as though it was someone else's call. who approved NAL? who signed off on the Authier submission that left it in project purgatory such that a pivot to NAL was probably required? You reckon old BL went rogue and one-man banded it?

And yet we still have those guiding hands.

So you have two scenarios:

a bod who got it wrong but are asking for a chance to get it right "this time".

or a bod who couldn't control their appointee and are asking for another chance to get it right "this time".

(keeping in mind that the core of this bod apparently DID get it spectacularly wrong elsewhere previously as well)

finally, you don't rush hiring decisions but you also sure as hell don't sit on them either. this has gone on too long and should be an urgent priority.
