Our housing obsession is a major cause of problems as it diverts money from more worthwhile endeavors, there has always been the cry from industry that they have to go overseas for money as Australians lock it away in pretty houses to live in.
Then the leasing/renting laws and systems likewise are archaic and as a result encourage people to buy rather than rent
All the above is due to government policy, from brain dead bureaucrats and stupid politicians and the fact that there is never any future planning done.
So we get what we deserve due to our system of government which does not have any safety valve system to correct politicians mistakes and lack of proactive planning, as we gor rid of the Queens control and did not replace it with another watchdog
