At 11 o'clock today on the 11/11 was the designated time to start the funeral of a wonderful lady, she was the Mother of my best friend. Her husband (deceased) was a WW2 returned soldier, both were wonderful parents grandparents and community members. They had their own two children and fostered two more, being their parents until they married and had their own children. My friends mother worked tirelessly for the red cross, and was always knitting for children of need or cooking for a red cross cake stall. We are sadly seeing the loss of a wonderful type of Australian, one who will always be there to help a neighbour, one who has honesty and integrity and respect for others , one who doesn't think "whats in it for me" before giving a hand. I truly hope these values that we cherish will survive and continue to be the Aussie way.
