Virgin was already a dead business before the pandemic but of course it's management and shareholders don't want to waste a good crisis and want to be bailed out. Let it go into administration. It will be cheaper to pay all the staff to sit at home for a year than go bail out the shareholders and the creditors.
But of course those staff will find other work and there will be another airline that will take its place and it will need staff.
Those that like to virtue signal online and want the government to pay for everyone, should first be asked to pay more taxes and then asked again if they still want to bail everyone out.
