Your map doesn’t have a scale to it. The Hualapai are not claiming the nesting area is within the project area, they are claiming that the sound and light pollution from drilling will reach the nesting areas. (Apparently drilling at night is planned, either they can’t finish a drill during daytime hours or they prefer to work when it’s not so hot.) Seems to me the distance is less than 3000 feet in some places. The access road is much closer. Birds have sensitive ears and sharp eyes, you know.

Still, in my mind the best case for the Hualapai is the hydrology and permanent threat of drilling to the aquifer supplying the spring. But that might not be the best case, as the judge looks at it. Or, the cumulative effect of multiple violations may tip the scale.
