Funny you should mention fireworks...because, as much as I enjoy the fact that kids enjoy them, personally I believe they are a most extravagant, unnecessary means of celebrating something......kind of like those grotesque houses overdecorated by Christmas lights, which serve only to remind us of the over-commercialised, excessive celebration of Christmas. Just my opinion.

But anyway, back to the simple life.

It is you who needs to realise that often, the most simple things in life are the most effective. Such was the wonderful spirit that flowed from today's formal apology. You can't buy stuff like that. So I think it's reasonable to suggest that you would be more likely to be turned on by the fireworks. After all, it is you who seems to have difficulty appreciating the simple things in life....like genuine words???

Anyone who couldn't enjoy today's speech by the PM, and the obvious comfort it brought to the Stolen Generations, is plagued by weird prejudices or some sort of weird baggage.

What the hell are you doing ridiculing or questioning the apology, when the very people that it was meant for, are virtually to a man, delighted and comforted by it????

If you can't enjoy people being made feel better, then what can you enjoy??

Some of the reasons I've read here which attempt to trivialise or discredit the apology are so simplistic, they're virtually childish.

The apology was never meant to fix things in a day (Can someone tell poor old irrelevant Wilson Tuckey that?), but the desperados will continue to come up with that and other weak arguments as their case against an apology.

Anyway, good night....I'm off to bed......I'll sleep well.....Australia is finally back in good hands.....I can feel the spirit returning. Wonderful stuff.
