The whole point is we have to get away from the 'dig it up' idea or if it stands still 'shear it' or 'eat it' idea.

We need technology development and or both finance industries ----------- that is where the future lies -------------- either that or poverty.

Now - if we accept that that is indeed where the future lies and reject poverty - then are we going to move towards that future by investing in education and technology and science (heaven forbid) -

or --

are we going to move towards that future by cutting on education and science?

Pretty simple questions.

Abbott's and Hockey's idea was --------------- cut spending on those investments.

IMO - that path leads directly to poverty.

That is why you would NEVER hear Abbotts say those things - because they are outside his understanding.

The things inside his understanding were Knights and Dames and making an old Prince a Knight ---------- along with a few fundamentalist Catholic ideas.

That thinking will not do one single thing to save this country.

That is exactly why Malcolm Turnbull is sitting where he is right now --------- no more, no less.

Will it work? Haven't got a clue ----------- but, IMO ---------- it's the best shot we are going to get at it.

Free and open trade world we have been exposed to only means one thing, wages will progressively head down.

Nice, quite, subtle but ongoing downward trajectory.

Accept your points, we have to try and turn it all around but the population have been living in dream land for so long it will not be easy.
