This is a good interview with Former Reserve Bank Board member Warwick McKibbin.
At the 1 min mark he talks about studies that he has seen that would target inflation rates at 6-7%.
What effect would that have on gold?
Then at the 4.5min mark he says the AUD should be around 85-90c given our terms of trade. That would give an AUD gold price of around $1600 even with a flat USD gold price.
