This is the questions that people are asking.

the punter in the street thinks that it is the big end of town that is benefitting. And they don't want it to continue while they suffer. And they are voting with their feet.

Oddly enough, it is China that will print its currency into oblivion. And you touched on some of the reasons. Because they ain't a democracy, they can. Indeed, because they ain't a democracy, they continually need to sure up their short term legitimacy.
