Don't the management have to agree to it 3H? Too lazy to check at the moment, but wasn't something added to the constitution in 2009?

Anyway some concrete interest would be good!! Or some oil and/or helium would be even better.

Hendo all business as NT sells itself to Chinese investors

GOVERNMENT officials are courting Chinese investment in Shanghai.

Chief Minister Paul Henderson and Asian Relations and Trade Minister Rob Knight are in China this week with a Territory government business delegation to promote the NT during the Shanghai Expo's NT Week.

Mr Henderson said he hoped to encourage the Chinese to look to the Northern Territory for investment, tourism and education.

"The Territory's economic future is bound up in China's," he said. "This is the powerhouse of world economic growth."

He said 20 per cent of the Northern Territory's exports go to China.

NT Chamber of Commerce president George Roussos said the trip was a good opportunity for a small economy like the Territory's to promote itself to the world's second-largest economy.

"We have quite a considerable amount of minerals (and) we need to make it known to important markets like China's," he said. "It's really in our interests to make ourselves known."

The expo is an international fair featuring 150 countries' pavilions.

This week is NT Week in the Australian pavilion, which includes art exhibitions and other displays from Territorians.

Yesterday Mr Henderson visited the Yangshan deepwater port, south of Shanghai, and met with representatives of Tianda, a company with 10 mining exploration licences in the Territory and business interests in the NT, Western Australia and Queensland.
