If I had of let the share price slip right back to break even point that would have been 25c after selling out between 70-76c. It's definitely worked for me taking some gains along the way even if your sentiment is long term. A lot of true long term investors wouldn't actually be invested in AC8 yet until they thought it was a solid investment with cash on the books anyway. I think that even if you are a long term investor you can still take short term gains in the initial teething years of any stock if you do your research right. Nothing wrong with holding AC8 at the moment but I myself wouldn't feel comfortable if I had increased my average share price to say 50c from 25c, just sounds like greed more than anything.

How do people go about short term gains in terms of tax? If day traders are riding the lows and highs each day surely Cgt makes this an un viable method of trading?
