Great stuff.The GBR is managed by the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority GBRMPA.
As a regular fisherman on the inner reefs, Yammacutta and Kennedy Shoals, I do appreciate some of the concerns and news.
However the GBR is in the same mental basket as dolphins, grandma, mummy and kittens.
There is an enormous amount of BS written about bleaching, Crown of Thorns, warming and disasters about to happen by people who have never been within 200k of the GBR.
The last scare was about CoTs at Swain Reef.
Swain is so far out on the outer edge it is almost impossible to get to for the usual commercial fisherman, seaplane tour operator or anyone else apart from military.
It is same same as the ratbags saying "polar bear numbers are up/down this year". How could anyone go to the north pole and count white bears in the snow to verify?
Exactly - it is complete bulltish.
Be wary of "facts" which are impossible to verify.
Two years ago activist "scientists" chartered a ship with government money to prove the ice in Antarctica was melting.
They got frozen in; then rescued at huge cost by a Rusky icebreaker.
Never a press release from that.
