In any tragic event that happens under a massive fog of confusion, mis-reporting, sleep deprivation, urgency to break the news first...
Then this sort of "lots of unexplained things" situation will arise...

Conspiracy theories and alternative historical scenarios are always entertaining and if it fits with an undelying agenda and belief-system of US-no-good-and-always-at-fault, then imaginations become hyperbolic...
