IF people short, they have to buy the stock again anyway..
Just means it falls a tiny bit quicker than it would normally.
Reason people are shorting AGO is because it is a high cost producer and one of the first to be shut down as prices fall.
If you think china will continue to slow down as their credit crisis unwinds then shorting AGO makes good sense.
