A group of independent federal, state and territory MPs has launched a website to help potential independent candidates become elected.

The Independent Candidate's Advisory Network, which has been spearheaded by federal MPs Peter Andren, Bob Katter and Tony Windsor, met in Canberra today.

Mr Windsor says the website is a guide to helping individuals mount an election campaign.

He says there is a growing call for independent representatives to stand for election.

"People are crying out for it, all we're saying is that with our experience as independent Members of parliament, in a number of parliaments across Australia, we're prepared to help people who want to help their people," he said.

Mr Andren says the major parties have lost sight of representing their constituencies, especially in regional electorates.

"The Nationals in particular being the little caboose on the end of the Liberal train, they've gone wherever the Libs have gone on issues of particularly say Telstra most recently, and country people want a change," he said.
