The Germans started WW1 and they lost, but only after millions had been killed and or maimed.

If only Hitler had been smart enough to learn the lessons of that war, he would not have been so stupid and arrogant as to start another one.And if he had been really smart, he would have learnt a lesson from French history and not invaded Russia, or at least, not until he had defeated Great Britain.

But, as they say, 'Pride goes before the Fall' or 'Those who ignore the lessons of history are bound to repeat its mistakes'.
