letter to local mp

Hello all,
Dex and I are also trying to bring about some sanity on the recent un-Australian treatment of CXY. My approach is to NOT make everybody wrong and to make friends for UCG - not enemy's so I urge everybody to educate rather than confront. We have the truth on our side. My email this morning:

RE: Cougar Energy and alleged "ground water contamination"

Dear Dorothy,

First of all I wish to congratulate you on your 5th term as an MP. I am sure many people do not understand this level of service and I commend you on your dedication.
I note your key principles: PRINCIPLES BEFORE PERSONALITIES, PEOPLE BEFORE POLITICS - this is what we need in politics in my humble opinion.

I fear you have been grossly misinformed about the recent events surrounding Cougar Energy and Underground Coal Gasification (UCG). Nobody can be across all the the diverse subjects within your electorate with expertise and I understand you can only go on the intelligence you have been supplied with. Unfortunately this issue has become emotional amongst special interest groups.

In short I do not blame you at all on your initial stance on the incident however in the name of your own principles and a more sustainable planet and the benefit of your constituents I urge you to take another look at what has happened here.

Australia has the dubious record of being one of the worst power generation polluters in the world. Brown coal in particular is a massive problem for us all and power is going up in price hurting all people in your electorate and Australia.
In contrast to this Len Walker MD Cougar Energy is a gentleman and a credible scientist who has perfected a highly beneficial clean coal base load power technology. This is his life's work at stake here in addition to the future of a clean economic power solution for Queensland and the world at large. China are looking closely at this and we all know how important it is for them to implement environmental solutions urgently.

All conversationalists like myself want to see solar, wind and other alternate power solutions. The do not provide the base load solution we need urgently at this time and therefore UCG is an ideal transitional technology to meet the needs of households and business. They do not provide jet fuel, plastics and other products we have come to accept as part of our modern life. I promise you a careful factual examination of UCG will demonstrate that it can provide all this over time in addition with major benefits for the environment and your electorate / Australia.
If you meet with Len and communicate with him he will show you the scientific facts - the truth about UCG.

Given the extremely low level of contaminants and lack of further confirmation, that Cougar have caused any problem whatsoever, this could be labeled a media circus and a gross miscarriage of justice for the company, the staff that lost their jobs, the shareholders and your electorate.
Indeed many people have become upset for no good reason at all over this issue. We are all constantly exposed to contaminants like radiation and petrochemical pollutants that present an actual danger to our health. UCG does not present any real danger in my opinion and as scientifically proven by no less than 7 years of trials in this country.

The replacement of current unacceptable coal power generation methods and the potential negation of the need to go down the nuclear path make UCG an extremely attractive alternate energy solution.
I urge you to take the time to examine this issue again in a factual scientific manner in line with your excellent principles.
