Won't it be cheaper, politically better and more in the interest of the public if the government would split up Telstra, buy back the fixed line and cable network, spend $5B or so to upgrade the cable network to similar NBN standards than spending and owning a $43B (I suspect the final monster will cost a lot more than this) NBN network?
The government can then lease out the copper and cable networks to Telstra and other Telco's at the same price so Samuel can stop wasting his time bashing Telstra and concentrate on the petrol and other unfair industries.
