The only reason i can think of ..for ANZ to allow /cause the re-ignition of the Opes matter is that they had(we speculate) a general provision of $400m which they do not want to make a hard provision
IE It is being eaten into by other matters ...i note they now are the proud owners of some $123m in Allco Equity Partner shares
By going hard they defer .. hard wired provisioning to next quarter or the one after that
I have no idea on how Banks provision ...and will leave the rest to more experienced contributors
