Tesla cell chemistry is patented and exclusive. They don’t share it because up till now they developed it in collaboration with Panasonic(Sanyo)
and they certainly won’t be sharing IP on their new cell chemistry and manufacturing process.
Novonix is dealing with battery companies at the back end for now, sending samples to all the main players.
Sanyo( Panasonic’s battery making subsidiary) which makes cells at GF1 is looking at it, but no deal yet.
It will be interesting to know who Tesla will be getting to supply materials for their own cell phroduction. Tesla may end up the biggest manufacturer of cells in the world over the next ten years. And it looks like they are going to start manufacturing at large scale first in the US.
Let’s hope the batteries need Synthetic Graphite and Novonix is in the picture!
