    as far as I can see, an average EV at current battery grade LCE spot price has roughly $6,200AUD worth of Li (most aren’t paying spot price btw so probably much less).
    Therefore if spot prices went insane and somehow doubled to $200k/T AUD, theoretically the cost of the Li might go to $12,400 per battery per car (again most manufacturers would have supply locked in at cheaper prices).

    I don’t think this makes EV’s unaffordable at all. I assume we will see competition in the market drive manufacturers to keep tight margins to retain market share of sales, and if they require supply to keep up with demand, preordered vehicles etc (some countries banning the sale of ICE vehicles by certain dates will drive EV demand higher again), well those companies will need to fork out for the LCE and work it into their costs and margins.

    Considering the amount of EV’s yet to hit the market, I imagine we will see higher Li pricing over the next few years at least IMO.

    But don’t forget guys, “we won’t hit 50c til 12ktpa”… lol.
