at what petrol/diesel price does it become
uneconomical to own a Chevy/ram/land cruiser? $4/litre? $5/litre?

Sure there will always be the few wealthy people who will own one no matter the cost of the fuel, but for everyday middle class folk who bought a cruiser for the half yearly family camping trip, it’s likely not going to be affordable within the next decade to run just for that. Simply put, as demand for fuel decreases, the prices will rise. It’s going to happen whether we like it or not.

In the mean time, the market for electric utility vehicles is going to be immense for whoever can create the most practical model. I’d expect a hybrid option will lead the pack in the next decade in Aus, possibly 100-200km range on electric for the daily commute and a fuel tank for the weekend away long trip or something like that...
