This is significant. Exxon is considerably bigger than BHP, in terms of total equity. I believe this company also traces its history back to the original transformational shift from horse to combustion engine, with the original company called Standard Oil, so this has historical significance too. Tony Seba mentions this in one of his presentations, as I recall.
Personally, I see this as a fundamentally big deal and a validation, if a further one was needed, of the once in a century step-change about to take place, at ludicrous (perhaps even to plaid?) speed.
