Seems like a no-brainer to me. They've already invested USD$825m in the salar, so they've got to do something with it. With the Jadar debacle and now the Rincon CAPEX blowout, RIO needs a win with lithium. For less investment than they've already put into Rincon, they would get a turnkey operation that just needs someone with deep pockets (which they obviously have).
