Not exactly true. A power source is more efficient the closer it is. The further you send it, the greater the loss.
Commercially, you can sign a deal with anyone and they'll supply you but, economically, it's like burning coal and planting trees to "offset" the tons of pollutants you produce - it's still better not to produce the pollutants in the first place.
