Actually that's incorrect.
I've previously had a motor dealership licence where we would purchase repairable write-offs, fix them, pass them at inspection for registration and sell them. They included brand new luxury vehicles (high end Mercs etc). Depending on the damage, most if not all parts were able to be sourced as an aftermarket or OEM part, however needed to order them from overseas being most high end are euro vehicles. Some parts can't get away from having to buy genuine, but majority no problem sourcing aftermarket or OEM, even with the brand new releases - which by the way is a 1 to 1 replica, without the price tag.
While we're on the topic of how expensive EV parts are, mates Tesla the other year hit a pothole and needed a new tyre and wheel balance/align... No one would do it except Tesla... they charged +$1,200 for one tyre and balance/align lol! Apparently it's a "special" tyre they need.
EV's are more expensive almost in every other way than an ICE vehicle. Apart from saving a few bucks by charging. The payback period can easily reach 5-10 years, even more if you've had an accident and needed repairs.
