Yep hybrid (PHEV and conventional hybrid) is the next logical and viable step. Pure EV have a very long way to go yet in terms of technology, battery capacity, charging, and more importantly infrastructure (not only charging depots but mass-upgrades to the grid) to support it - the list doesn't stop there. Price will be a huge factor in this too.
I see the all-electric nissan Leaf is still $65k... I shook my head when my mate bought one a couple of years ago, at least he came to his senses and sold it asap. What ludicrous pricing foralmostno benefit to a regular hatchback.
It will be interesting to see the price points of upcoming hybrids in the next few years. I can assume it will still be more expensive than their ICE counterparts (but not more than pure EV), but the market will force prices down, eventually.
