    Oh dear.

The article’s author has simply provided a “theoretical” estimate of “8 minutes” based on the 600 kW power of the charger.
    80kWh / 600kW x 60 mins/h = 8 mins

Sure, that is NOT technically accurate due to battery packs not charging at full power throughout the charge cycle.

But, charging at 600kW provides roughly
    600 kW / 3600 s/h x 1000 W/kW = 167 Wh/s
There are many EVs that consume roughly this amount of energy per km
    See for example:
    https://ev-database.org/cheatsheet/energy-consumption-electric-car
…so the “1 km of range for every second of charging” appears accurate enough, despite not applying to every use case.

However, despite all this, yet again, you fail to see the KEY POINT here, which is that charging rates are continually improving, and the mindset of the apparent “hassle” of “having to wait around for ages for my EV to charge” is rapidly going to be extinguished from many of even the most rusted-on haters.
With 600kW charging, many people with suitable EVs could basically add about 1km of range for every second they charge. Simple.
Charging for “a few” minutes could add “a couple of hundred km”. Great!

It addresses this flawed notion that EVs require you “to wait around for ages” for the damn thing to charge up. The fact that most trips for the vast majority are far less than “one tank” is another - yet key - point btw, meaning that the “hassle” only ever occurs on the odd road trip - for most people - anyway.
Some might see these faster charging rates as a win for those who might not have easy access to charging at home/work, but that is fast being dealt with also, afaict, via “lamp post” plug-ins and similar solutions on-street etc. It’s evolving. Rapidly. Great!

If you want to get fixated on how the author is techincally incorrect about a 0-100% charge time, then go for it.
I’m sure others will take the more important message from this article and rest even easier knowing what is on the horizon.
