Didn't say that at all, did I @Kookie? Comparing companies in the same sector, over the same timeframe, is extremely useful and certainly not a waste of time. Comparing them over different timeframes is absolutely ridiculous, especially given that AGY was listed 14 years before WR1.

That's like taking two people with a 14 year age difference, working in the same sector, and asking them to tally up their lifetime earnings. If the 21 year old has less cumulative earnings than the 35 year old, despite only recently joining the workforce, he must be a dud according to your logic.

Choose an even playing field, and stick to comparing apples with apples.
