@GCar
I remember not so long ago, many lithium bulls here (including Joe Lowry, LOL) were talking about how pricing wouldn't go below US$25k per tonne because that was the price where it became uneconomical to produce Chinese lepidolite and African Spodumene. Yet here we are, with the Chinese pumping out lepidolite full-steam ahead, and the Africans now shipping ~18.6 kt LCE per month, or ~224 ktpa LCE on an annualised basis. That includes production from poor quality sources like tailings from a tin mine, with lithium content <0.6%, which in theory should be "high-cost" and therefore shouldn't be producing right now.
For anyone who is not blinded by their own bias, it is quite obvious that lithium production is not being tempered, and in fact is being massively expanded. See PLS' P2000 announcement yesterday, for just one example. Also see Serbia now suggesting they will approve RIO's Jadar project.
Scoff at your own peril @GCar. There's a reason why the lithium spot price is now in the 12's. And it's not because of a looming undersupply. It's quite the opposite.
