We can't be sure. However, I've seen several reputable commentators mentioning that lithium inventories have actually been rising recently, rather than selling off stockpiled "oversupply". And we know for a fact that several huge projects are currently commissioning expansions, with a lot of additional supply to come online in the next 12-18 months.
It's not always a giant conspiracy theory, and most of the time, the correct answer is the simple one. There's an oversupply right now, and significant additional supply is forthcoming in the next year or so. That will place a lot of pressure on the lithium price, and particularly those suppliers with links to China.
