To "transition" you need a competing product. EV still can't compare on the same scale as regular ICE vehicles. I'm not just talking about the vehicle itself, as 'transitioning' needs to factor in absolutely every aspect when talking about completely replacing the competing product, or in this case, competing technology.
A transition needs to start somewhere though, no issue there - but to call ICE vehicles 'relics' in a decade shows how naive people are.
