I just want to comment on what I learned after reading an Instagram post concerning Glencore and Galan in December.
From their ann, GLN has an offtake with Glencore for their phase 1 lithium chloride. Lithium chloride is what Puna Mining produces from its evaporation ponds. Puna then uses the concentrated lithium (chloride) brine to process into lithium carbonate product. Hence, lithium carbonate is a much more valuable product and much more difficult/technological to produce.
From the GLN ann, it suggests that lithium chloride is not allowed to be exported from Argentina, hence they require Glencore to buy and then toll-treat the lithium chloride at a third-party facility to produce lithium carbonate. I do not know who they use to toll-treat their chloride.
From their ann, GLN will only produce lithium chloride from their evaporation ponds which are currently being constructed to produce by 2025. i am not aware what the status is of the agreement with Glencore.
