Guys i see your points but BHP have been getting out of "value adding" for years and still are getting out (sale of yabulu TSV NOW ).

Have a look at some of there "in the pipeline" projects all are world class deposits.

i dont think your going to see them building steel mills. to do it cheap where would they need to build them ??? not in USA not in AUS... only a few places left for cheap labor and steel mill are already in china......

sure ravens was a disaster but they risked a new tech to make it work..... lesson learned maybe?

they are going to stick with KISS and do what they know how to and thats "dig big holes"

i think they will have a bash at agriculture a bit more (fertiliser resources) there is a growing need for that in the near feature as china / africa / india move from even more of a self sustainably system to a western way of farming etc.
