I lived on the Tablelands for forty years.
I have personally experienced a black frost of minus 7 in that area. Yes I read the thermometer.
The minus 14 was recorded in the seventies at Foster's vineyard.
It was so cold that night that the dormant grape vines split.
Hard to believe 150km SW of Cairns I know.
Was a major reason I retired to the coastal climes of Innisfail where it's always well above freezing.
